Good to know

  • Early start on Day 3: we leave around 4:00 AM for Kashi Vishwanath, when the city is at its quietest. Sleep early on Day 2. We confirm the exact time the evening before.
  • Phones, bags and electronics are generally not allowed inside, so travel light. Lockers are available nearby.
  • Peak days: on festivals and very crowded days, the temple may change its arrangements. We inform you in advance and arrange the best available alternative.
  • Walking and footwear: the ghat steps and old lanes are uneven. Wear comfortable footwear that is easy to remove, and tell us at booking if a senior guest needs a slower pace.
  • Best season: October to March is the most pleasant. During the monsoon the river can rise and limit boat rides, and we arrange an alternative if that happens.
  • Shopping tip: for Banarasi silk, ask for the Silk Mark label or proof of handloom origin and compare a few shops. Your Trip Host can guide you to trusted ones.
